Having a review done by us or having an interview helps the traffic to the developers website, as was bought to our attention recently when we did an interview and reviewed a plugin for a developer who sent us snap shots of their traffic before and after the shows. The traffic stayed, so there are great benefits to being reviewed by WP Plugins A to Z. Submit Your Plugin Here.

Ambers Rant:
This is #52 of 52 episodes for 2020. Its Episode 492, and we have reached the end of the world!!! Well, the end of the year – though people are behaving as though it is the end of the world. Hope you have enough toilet paper! I noticed the shelf was looking kinda sad yesterday when I was grocery shopping. Maybe we are actually reaching the end of THIS world, and entering into a NEW world, a new universe, at midnight tonight? Perhaps some of those out there are correct in a way…
We have reached week 52 of the year 2020, and we are now 41 weeks into the Rona – where we have ‘officials’ admitting to the fact that they have lied the past 2-3 times about our ‘bench marks on the way back to normal’ – do the research, and make up your mind for yourself on that entire topic.
We, as a society, are going nuts – there is A LOT going on out there! However, in order to keep your marbles safe from the societal cracks or getting lost, create yourself that place I keep talking about! A little place where you can TUNE OUT for a while! It can be anywhere – a blanket thrown over your couch to build a fort, in your bed with your door closed and a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign or a sock on your door, or even your car! Get into a space all your own, throw on some music and grab a book, or even throw on an audio book and grab a drink! Kick back, and breathe. Try to get there at least once a week, more if you can.
If you have kids, let them know that they should only bother you if they are broken, dying, or bleeding for 1 WHOLE hour. Make your area comfy for you, and try to remove all internet AND radio with news hours while zoning out. Try to let go of everything outside of your control, and work on pestering those you know and care about to get their own Zone Out Space’s started.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.
Let’s get to the fun we have today.
WordPress News and Info
Before we jump into the news, ……
Check out the interview currently out….
with Arindo Duque from WP Admin Pages Pro/WP Ultimo (Plugin was reviewed in Episode 484)
News this week:
How to safely add custom code to WordPress websites
https://securityboulevard.com/2020/12/how-to-safely-add-custom-code-to-wordpress-websites/
Ok, its a light day for the news and well a good time to be just random here. Of the news covered by us on the show what do you the producers want to see more of in the cumming year.
I know that this time of year is always pretty slow and most of the articles I see are the usual lists such as:
Top 5 spamming plugins.
Top 10 ways to dress your WordPress for a party
More plugins to help you Score
Rum tasters plugin of the year
and on and on..
I always find those list articles to be of little to no value since they always spew the same plugins that are offering the highest return on their affiliate programs and the links are always an affiliate link. I have no problem against them just realize it is always the same after you read the first one.

Off we go into the meat and potatoes, Into the depths of plugin depravity…..
ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I’ll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.
This week for ClassicPress I have:
Just a note for my ClassicPress listeners please send me info to help keep the ClassicPress section full.

Amber’s Plugin
Current Year and Copyright Shortcodes
https://wordpress.org/plugins/jonradio-current-year-and-copyright-shortcodes/
Description
This is a pretty neat idea! I know a few artists that will love this plugin for sure!
This is designed as an auto update for the date in shortcode for your site. They give you the shortcode for the day, month and year as well as for a Copyright option for wherever on your site.
This updates automatically – ex: you create something in 2018, and put down your copyright and year of creation. once Jan 1’st comes around, it will auto update to 2019 for you, so your work is still copyrighted, and you don’t have to remember everything you need to update in the new year and go through to do it manually.
This is a free, very simple, and elegant plugin that is very useful for creators out there. Go and check this one out!

Gravity Forms Email Blacklist
https://wordpress.org/plugins/gravity-forms-email-blacklist/
The lowdown:
I recently started using this plugin as the bots and spammer have started using a new tenquie to spam you. What thay are doing is using your iwn email address in the user spot and then you not only get the spam but the email you have sent out to the person filling out the form.
This is a great plugin stopped that spam cold.

Amber’s plugin
Papier-mâché
https://wordpress.org/plugins/papier-mache/
Description
I wasn’t able to find much for new years, though I found this little diddy!
This is a plugin that offers up confetti for celebration! And at the price of free too!
once you plug it in and activate it, you need to go into Appearance, than to Customize, than you see the Papier-mâché settings.
I really love the settings offered up in this plugin – you can choose WHICH page of your site to add it to, as well as choosing the entire site. You can also choose to remove it from the view of particular roles! I have never seen that option before – very useful! So if you are working on a site, and don’t want the distraction of confetti but you want it on your site, you can make it so that as the administrator you don’t actually have to deal with the view of confetti while working.
You also get to choose which shape falls, how many shapes fall at a time, and what colour the confetti is that falls.
Pretty nifty! Go and check this out!

I noticed on quite a few plugins I saw the following: This plugin doesn’t work with your version of PHP. Learn more about updating PHP. I wonder, does this mean that older plugins are upgrading their PHP, and making it impossible to keep the plugin going unless you update your PHP too>
How do you even update your PHP?
Is there a basic ‘how to’ manual that teaches you how to use the F12 function? Maybe there is a definition booklet floating around that I can’t seem to find that you or someone out there knows about..? ’cause I find that when I can’t find the bit of code I need to change in the basic ‘inspection’ section, I’m finding myself scrolling through the ‘style editor’ – but I’m not really sure which section of the style editor I need to be looking in to find the correct bit to change the bit I am looking to change. I’m kind of blinking rainbow lines by the end of the night…
example: I need to center the drop down menu that pops up on mobile version of the site; Can’t find that code to change in the inspection section, so I need to search more in depth. I move over to the ‘style editor’ – but where within those seeming endless sets of rules for various parts do I search?
