Benefits – Benefits – Benefits

Having a review done by us or having an interview helps the traffic to the developers website, as was bought to our attention recently when we did an interview and reviewed a plugin for a developer who sent us snap shots of their traffic before and after the shows. The traffic stayed, so there are great benefits to being reviewed by WP Plugins A to Z. Submit Your Plugin Here.

John’s Intro:

Amber’s Rant:

Welcome to Episode 594 – WordPress Plugin Pug Hugs – Hoping that the new show time is working out for everyone! The sunshine is starting to come out a little, it’s starting to warm up a bit, here’s hoping that the sunshine will come and hang out sooner rather than later!

Onto the art!

Remember: This is a Value for Value show, meaning any value you find here, offer that same value back! We accept all currencies including time and talent currency! Chocolate is always good too…

And don’t skip the end of the show – you never know what kind of amazing life altering advice you might catch!

A special note to all of our Listeners out there: What do you think about the way our show flows? Got an idea? Share it with us! Got a question? Don’t be shy about asking! If you have a question or an idea that will make this show better, don’t hesitate to chuck it at us – if we can’t catch it we will just duck.

…When you see this in the notes, this means we didn’t read this on the show, and that the only way to find this information out is to read our Show Notes!

…You can send any questions/suggestions or notes saying ‘hi’ over to me at, or hit up our site – Be creative with the title so that the spammer eater doesn’t eat your note though!

Let’s start the show with this weeks Featured Artist:

Breaking News in the WordPress World at large!!

…If I missed something, shoot me a link at – it may show up on the next show!

News this week:

WordPress Vulnerability Report – March 1, 2023 – There are a decent amount of plugins to be aware of in this weeks list. The ones I most easily recognize are WordPress Login Logout Menu plugin, WordPress Admin Block Country plugin, WordPress Hero Banner Ultimate plugin, WordPress Easy Google Analytics for WordPress plugin, WordPress Custom Settings plugin – there are more, though this weeks list is very long and seems to consist almost entirely of WordPress plugins.

There are a few themes that have had their vulnerabilities fixed as well, so be sure to check out our show notes to look over the list yourself.

All In One SEO Patches Multiple Stored XSS Vulnerabilities in Version 4.3.0 – The vulnerabilities potentially impacted more than 3 million users on versions 4.2.9 and earlier. Researchers found that there was insufficient input sanitization from Word Fence – this made it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

MonetizeMore acquires advanced ads plugins – For those who use advanced ads plugin, this could be a great thing, or it could be a terrible thing – it all depends on what MonetizeMore decides to do with it. It seems that the previous owner had made a connection with them long before thinking of selling, so hopefully the plugin will not be changed beyond recognition.

Gutenberg 15.2 introduces revisions for template editing – 15.2 now has support for revisions when editing templates and template parts. The revision panel has now been placed on the surface, making it a little easier and less intimidating. There have also been improvements to the navigation of the site, making it a little easier to use in general. There are a few more new goodies that have been added as well, so be sure to check our show notes to get the link and check them out!

New proposal seeks to update WordPress release for merging Gutenberg features after Beta 1 feature freeze – There is a new ‘Gutenberg-merge’ ticket introduced by lead developer Andrew Ozz. This would formalize the latitude Gutenberg contributors have been given for committing code after feature freeze during the release cycle. Generally any new feature and enhancement needs to be added before the release of Beta 1. There were rare exceptions made via tickets, though his has been happening more and more it seems, so the goal is to make it so that nothing new can be added more than 2 or 3 days after, rather than the 2-3 weeks after that has been happening.

WordPress themes team proposes community themes initiative – WordPress representatives of the themes team are wanting to carry forward the momentum created leading up to the WordPress’s 6.1 release, publishing a proposal extending this new era of increased design contribution. The goal is to carry forward the themes style variations, keeping the old and only bringing in little new – rather than changing the entire thing from bottom up.

WordPress community on Mastadon launches ‘toot the word’ survey – Since last month’s Twitter outage, Mastadon has gotten a boost! Daniel Author, who runs a WordPress agency based in Sweden, curates and maintains a list of WordPress community members’ Mastadon accounts that anyone can follow by downloading the CSV file and importing it into Mastadon. And now he and 5 other large Mastadon instances have come together and have created a survey for WordPress users. The goal of the survey is to improve Mastadon instances that are WordPress related.

What Mesopotamian’s can teach us about ChatGPT and the impact of new tech – This is a pretty cool article, talking about how Mesopotamia was, where written language was a major change within the civilization, and then goes on to talk about the inventions, the effect of the inventions 4000 years ago, and draws lines of comparison between now and then. Very interesting read!

Amber’s Plugin

Fonts Plugin | Google Fonts Typography

Requires:4.0 or higher
Compatible up to:6.5.2
Released:16 October 2017
Last Updated:16 April 2024
(5 star out of 5)

The Lowdown:

This is a useful plugin I found for a client’s site – it offers you all the Google fonts, a way to set up the various Google fonts for the different typographies through your customizer on your site.

This plugin also hosts Google fonts locally for you, and offers you the option to upload your own personal fonts.

Very cool plugin, worth checking out!

Advanced Htaccess Optimizer & Editor

Requires:4.3 or higher
Compatible up to:6.4.4
Released:02 March 2023
Last Updated:18 February 2024
(0 star out of 5)

The Lowdown:

The Advanced Htacess Optimizer & Editor is a WordPress plugin that is designed to help website owners optimize their .htaccess file for improved website speed and security. The plugin includes a range of features that make it easy for users to optimize their website’s .htaccess file without the need for technical knowledge.

Amber’s Plugin

Login or Logout Menu Item

Requires:5.0 or higher
Compatible up to:6.4.4
Released:20 October 2017
Last Updated:25 January 2024
(4.8 star out of 5)

The Lowdown:

This is a really useful plugin if you are just wanting a simple login/logout menu item.

Once a person has logged into the site, the word changes to ‘logout’.

This is only a simple plugin to create the login/logout button, and does not have any way to create anything else.

The way you use it, is by adding it to your menu – or you can make a seperate menu with just this added.

That’s it.

Easy and simple, automatically brings you to whatever login/logout page is already there, though you can put your own link in there.

We Interrupt the Meat and Potatoes of Plugin Depravity Edition to bring you our Donations Segment and to thank our Producers!

Since we just work here, it’s up to you, our Producers, to keep the show’s larders stocked with Time, Treasure, or Talent Donations! If you need more information on how to do that, you can check out our site – right up in the menu you will see the definition for each one under ‘Donations’!

Special thanks goes to:

Free-Lance Producers popping in and out:

Though always showing up at unexpected times, these Producers are surely part of the reason our name is getting out there! Thank you!

…If you have listened to even 10 minutes of this show, or shown up a single time to one of our live shows on YouTube, you are one of our many Free-Lance Producers! Although you guys are always popping in and out at unexpected times, we appreciate your support and periodic help with one thing or another – thank you!

Back Room Producers hanging-out in the Lounge:

Always about the place consuming all the coffee and donuts, these Producers earn it by helping out with our contests, artwork, site organization, notes, questions, suggestions, licenses, and by hiring us! Your Time and Talent Donations are equal to your Treasure Donations of under $50, and we would not be here without you – thank you!

…Back Room Producers, if you ever notice something that needs some work feel free to reach out to us and let us know – you can offer to take it up yourself, or just let us know and we will add it to our list.

War Room Producers:

With their donations of $50 or more these Producers receive a few extra perks – an official AtoZ Handle of their choice, a spotlight in that weeks show for a short speech, an official Executive Producership Credit, and you get to be part of the ‘Magic’ as it happens up in the War Room before we send the show out into the netherworld of the internets! Thank you for sticking by us and helping to keep the Back Room Producers stocked in coffee and donuts!

…**If you prefer to stay anonymous, please let us know at the beginning of your note to us regarding your donation! We are more than happy to keep you anonymous from the world – nobody is ever forced out of the tender embrace of the shadows on this show!**

…To receive your Official AtoZ Handle, think up an original name, and send it into us! Be sure to note down the show number and title of the show so that we know when to log it!

…Your spotlight can be an elevator pitch for your business, a note, or you can just skip it!

…The Producership Credit we offer is REAL! When you send your donation in to us of $50 or more, please be sure to note down the number and title of the show your donation shows up on, and we will back up your right to claim Producership!

…’being part of Magic Happen’ refers to being part of the show – if you are interested in taking up a larger part in the show, reach out to us and let us know! We will be happy to discuss the options!

…War Room Producers, same as for the Back Room Producers, reach out to us if you notice something that needs work! Whether you are wanting to take up the job yourself or just inform us and leave it, we will add it to our list!

Thank you, now back to the Meat and Potatoes of Plugin Depravity Edition!

Hide My WP Ghost – Security Plugin

Requires:4.6 or higher
Compatible up to:6.5.2
Released:01 July 2016
Last Updated:16 April 2024
(4.5 star out of 5)

The Lowdown:

A quick easy way to change the login URL for your site and more.

Amber’s Plugin

Unlimited Elements for Elementor (Free Widgets, Addons, Templates)

Requires:3.5 or higher
Compatible up to:6.5.2
Released:01 February 2018
Last Updated:16 April 2024
(4.9 star out of 5)

The Lowdown:

This was a great find in my opinion – most Elementor plugins with this amount of addons tend to show up in your site with everything activated.

This one does not, you have to scroll through the options and choose which ones to download.

There are free and there are premium ones, though they make it clear which is which so you don’t get any surprises.

Very useful, and I really appreciated the fact that you have to go in and specifically select which ones you want to download.

If you have questions you would like to have asked on the show, send them in to me at – let’s see if we can stump my dad!

  • A question from a listener:Does he have a recommendation among the free SSL certificates? I use Cloudflare’s SSL certs to protect the sites I host, but I’ve got ‘Let’s Encrypt’ available from my current web host. Should I switch to ‘Let’s Encrypt’ or is Cloudflare equally or more secure? Thanks so much!! -Jason Lee
  • What end result do you think will come of all the abuse the chat bots are currently receiving?

I have a couple more questions for my dad just after the closing credits, for those listening elsewhere, you will have to make your way over to the YouTube’s!

Questions asked after closing credits:

Since I am asking a larger question, there is only one for the second part today.

  • Do you think it’s possible that if the AI gains total sentience, that it will be able to differentiate between the a-holes and the awesome people out there? Or do you think that will take a few thousand years of development before it will be able to do that, in the same way it took humans? Or do you think since humans have lost their ability to do so, will AI ever be able to?

One more time for the ways to contact us!
