We are now at 53 weeks of the Rona lockdowns, and yet the world still has not found its collective brain and insanity still abounds. Here’s to hoping that we can gather our intelligence and take back the power we gave our governments and live life again.

Ambers’ Rant:
This is #12 of 52 episodes for 2021. Its Episode 505! Sorry for missing last week, apparently camping in the snow did not agree with me…. which sucks, because I Love camping! I would happily live off grid in a Yurt or something. Though I don’t think I would be able to do any of this if I lived in a Yurt off grid, so better that I am here. I honestly do quite enjoy this!
Since camping with the snow doesn’t agree with me, my hour of no media a day remains rather important. Helps a lot with the mental fatigue of life. Best way to do it is: retreat from the world to under a blanket, curl up on the couch, listen to some music with no news hours, or to an audio book! Drinks, warm or cold – those help too.
And remember – don’t be afraid to tell your kids to bugger off for an hour – it’s totally allowed to demand they not bother you unless they are broken, dying, or bleeding for the entirety of the hour! Maybe help them to create their own zone out spaces, than walk away quietly while they are ‘arranging’ it – you will more than likely get about an hour all to yourself this way. Just don’t crumple any chip or cookie bags….
Remember, remove all social media and main stream news for your own mental health! Do this for an hour a day.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I’ll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.

Embed Plus for YouTube – Gallery, Channel, Playlist, Live Stream

Description
This is a YouTube plugin, though it is pretty amazing! It gives you the ability to play or stream your stuff, both playlists and live streams, on your site.
There are A LOT of options here, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed when I first looked at it. There are 9 tabs full of options, and a 10th tab for your API key.
The initial set up has you set up the way you want this to show up on your site, where you can choose whether or not you show the YT logo, if you want it to show all videos related or just videos from your own channel, if you want the screen to auto-fill your customers screen or just to play as the size it is….
And that’s all just with the free options!
There is an upgrade, of course; this is YouTube. The upgrade is part of the YouTube Pro I am always getting notifications about when I am checking out videos on YouTube.
This is certainly something that I will be playing with and learning how to use to the fullest extent – I can see a lot of uses for the free version of this plugin.

If you are looking for a donation plugin that will help you with specific projects and goals, this may be one for you. You can create single one off donations or reoccurring donations. You can have event ticketing, you can track your goal for a specific fundraiser and showcase that to your supporters. It does offer quite a bit but it is a third party service.

Switch Video Quality

Description
These plugin creator’s took a lesson from Vimeo and YouTube.
Once this is activated, you will automatically have an option for which quality you want to upload your video in.
You can only use this once per post, so there is only one video available per post, though you can have a nice long playlist of as many videos or music lists as you want.
The only thing limiting the size of your playlist is your site settings – example, what is the max size of a file you are able to upload at a time?
There is also an Iframe available as an option as well.
This is a pretty neat, and free, plugin. It works pretty well, and is worth checking out if you are finding that your quality is not quite what you are needing.

The Lowdown:
This is a plugin I used a few years back for doing syncing between two websites and they broke it so badly I had to drop it. I promptly forgot about it and recently discovered it again and it seems they have fixed everything but in the fixing they have separated out the parts into premium features.
It is still good for the basics I need now though, so I can recommenced it again

You can do the following:
- Disable cookie hint for bots and crawlers.
- Reload the page after the user has saved his cookie settings
- Add exceptions for the cookie overlay
- Different overlay layouts to choose from
- Free customization of the overlay
- Easy management of cookie settings via shortcodes
You can even change up the text that customers will see for the cookies. I always have so much fun with these areas where you get to write your own messages to your customers.
These guys have a REALLY nifty dashboard, very fancy, and lots of options even in the free version. They do have a Premium version, though they don’t skimp on the free version.
If cookies are something that you have an interest in controlling to the best of your ability, then this plugin is for you!

What part of the site is counted in the space given to a site by a host on the server? The content only? Or the site as a whole?
Does this mean that the more plugins the site has, the less space it has to work with?
I believe that most hosts limit their clients space for their sites – what does limiting the space do for them? What do they get out of it?
How does limiting their space effect the site itself?
When the space is not limited, what does that do for/to the site, and every other site hosted on that server? Do sites run slower on that server as a whole?
