Johns Rant:
This is #26 of 52 episodes for 2020. Its Episode 467 we are now at the halfway mark of the year that keeps on giving. Time to step it up and start giving.
We are now 26 weeks into 2020 and 15 weeks of the Rona, the surge has arrive and its going to get you, duck and run for cover. 2020 started out pretty optimistic, then we were told to panic about the Rona, when that stopped working out, some Riots and protests were started and now that they have started to peter out, we are back to being told to panic about the new Rona surge again. How about if we let people live their lives and take appropriate precautions to preserve their health like humans have done for the past millennium. I am pretty sure the human race will make it though this disaster like it has so many others in the dark recesses of time.
These are indeed strange times to be alive and I am doing what I can to prepare my kids and grand-kids for what is coming.
The best things you can do is relax take a breath, buy a gun, learn to hunt, build a garden and realize things are not nearly as bad as the news says they are. Save your sanity and your Amygdala and find out why your not gonna die by listening to the No Agenda Show

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I’ll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.

The Lowdown:
This is a plugin for Elementor that will attempt a minor scam. I may have reviewed this without testing previously and have recently wanted to add it to The Tavern. I quickly discovered that this is a master plugin for all their addons and the one I wanted is a premium plugin. While I am not against premium plugins, I have quite a few, I dislike being tricked into premium. To have this in the repository as appearing to be free is trickery to me

Countdown plugins have been a staple in WordPress for years and I have reviewed many different ones over the years that I have been doing this show. And yet here is another one that does a count down. One main difference is this one is a specific widget for Elementor. It displays a clock, a timer countdown and a simple countdown. All in all looks pretty good.

Just back to catching up on the podcasts after starting back to work again a month ago after the COVID shutdown (listen to your podcast on the bus on the way into work). Keep up all the good work that you do.
So a while ago you were asking if people were moving to Classic Press or staying with Gutenberg (or something like that) … I have to admit that I have started to experiment more with the Block editor since I was using Elementor and they are not supporting Classic Press, so I was looking for other options to move away from such a reliance on Elementor.
I started by creating a few blocks using create-guten-block and have now moved to creating a plugin based on create-guten-block that has multiple blocks for the company that I work for.
Don’t hit me, but I actually “like it”. Since being a developer I like to get my hands dirty and into the code … using create-guten-block I’m able manipulate the code the way I want (both front and back end). In addition to create-guten-block I have started working on theme development using WP Rig in an effort to create a light weight current theme, that and the Local development environment has given a good boost to my productivity.
I will let you know how things progress in the future as unfortunately due to COVID the company I work for is at half capacity and a lot of my time is now being spent in maintenance fixing things (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc) rather than in software development which is my main job there.
