Having a review done by us or having an interview helps the traffic to the developers website, as was bought to our attention recently when we did an interview and reviewed a plugin for a developer who sent us snap shots of their traffic before and after the shows. The traffic stayed, so there are great benefits to being reviewed by WP Plugins A to Z. Submit Your Plugin Here.

ClassicPress Options

ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.

One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I’ll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.

This week for ClassicPress I have:

News:

ClassicPress v1.1.0 has been released with a couple new features.

Listen to the Interview with James Nylen and Michelle Coe from ClassicPress Two of the Leads for the ClassicPress Team, Michelle Coe (lead designer), and James Nylen (lead developer) it is a great interview so follow the link to listen to it.

My experiment with migrating a fully mature WordPress website over to ClassicPress is complete and you can check out the results at WP Plugins A to Z and it went quite well and all my plugins have continued to work well.

I have a great set of plugins for you today!

Starting out I have a plugin that I have yet to use but felt you would want to know it exists. Keep in mind the ratings are based off the descriptions on their site and using their demo if available.

Classic Editor

https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/

Version:1.6.6
Requires:4.9 or higher
Compatible up to:6.7.1
Released:24 October 2017
Downloads:72198589
Last Updated:23 November 2024
Ratings:

(4.9 star out of 5)

What they say:
Classic Editor is an official plugin maintained by the WordPress team that restores the previous (“classic”) WordPress editor and the “Edit Post” screen. It makes it possible to use plugins that extend that screen, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor.

What I say:
This plugin has been very useful in this time of Gutenberg and has oveer 5+million active installs telling me that Gutenberg is not as popular as WordPress would like us to believe. I know everyone of my wordPress sites has it installed and active. It does work very well but is slated to be decomissioned at the end of 2021 which is not that far away. You may have to make a choice before then as WordPress/Gutenberg is marching forward.

Social Rabbit (premium plugin $69)

https://alidropship.com/addons/social-rabbit/

What they say:
Social Rabbit is the #1 WordPress social media plugin for auto-running and auto-promoting your websites on most popular social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
Enjoy smart human-like posting of your content and hassle-free promotion of your social accounts 24/7. The Rabbit draws attention to your accounts through following, liking and commenting on users’ posts and accounts. Your social traffic and sales grow like crazy!

Benefits

  • Get the instant growth of sales and profits from the very first day
  • Generate quality traffic from social media platforms
  • Replace a whole experienced SMM team
  • Promote your website on social media on autopilot 24/7 without a hassle
  • Improve the indexing of your website by search engines
  • Enjoy free lifelong support and updates

Features

Use auto-promotion of your accounts to get more followers, likes, and sales
Social Rabbit will promote your social media pages 24/7 without your constant control. All you need to do is set it up ONCE – and enjoy an instant flow of people who are likely to buy from you.
Using relevant hashtags and keywords chosen by you, the plugin will follow, like and comment on posts of your target audience and draw more attention to your business and store.

What I say:
After getting it installed which was simple enough as most plugins are just upload activate and install the license key.
Connection to your social media account was quite simple all you need to do is click a button which is nice no need to go though creating the APP keys some simular plugins need. Once you have completed that you simply need to choose how you will promote your site.
Connect to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter. Set up auto upload of random or select parts of your site, you can choose poster, galleries or blog posts.
What I found pretty nice was the ability to send out from my back catalog of posts and podcasts to allow people to see what I have done.
All in all it is worth the money simple and easy to use and does seem to help with gaining attention.

The lowdown:
this is a great plugin to help showcase specific part of your content in a post. I have been using it for a few years now and it has grown up quite nicely. It creates an excellent dropshadow box around what you intend to call out. Creating the box is simple enough to accomplish from a button on the editor window. It works great and you have lots of customization available to you for tweaking the look and feel to your site.

ClassicPress Plugin

ClassicPress Releases v1.1.0 with Security Page
https://classicpress.club/2019/09/28/classicpress-releases-v1-1-0-with-security-page/

CP Brute Force Login Protection
https://github.com/xxsimoxx/CP-Brute-Force-Login-Protection

The Lowdown:
This is a fork from WP Brute force detection and set to use the new security page in Classic Press. This plugin works great once you discover the secret that needs to be fixed in the GitHub Repo. If you just download the plugin and install it it seems to vanish. But after reading the thread in the ClassicPress forums I realized that the name of the folder for the plugin needs to be fixed. This is a simple fix just remove the last bit of the folder name -development and suddenly the plugins works as expected.

A very nice plugin to help protect your site and showcase the new security page in ClassicPress.

Rating 5 for the plugin but 4 for the deployment.

Closing out this Episode the Plugins I covered were:

John’s Plugins: Classic Editor – 5, Social Rabbi – 5, Drop Shadow Boxes – 5, CP Brute Force Login Protection – 5
