Interesting Sites Running WordPress:

https://ilovetypography.com/
I love Typography is a site devoted to fonts, typefaces and all things typographical.(and it runs on WordPress) It’s a great site that is in my daily reading list. Fonts are really something worth studying when you have the opportunity. Sometimes an entire site can look completely different just because of the fonts. This blog helps you to recognize when to use what font through hundreds of examples already on the site and new ones being added each day.

World of WordPress News and other interesting WordPress related posts:

Even the big boys can go down from time to time.. although short lived about 7 min WordPress.com went down last week due to a code error and took with it millions of others. a short statement from Automatic “At 1:20PM Pacific there was a site-wide outage/service degradation on WordPress.com.  The root cause was identified to be some debugging code which was trying to connect to servers which had been decommissioned.  Once the issue was identified, it was quickly resolved and service returned to normal about 1:27PM.”

its been awhile since I covered any of these

The lowdown:
well I have not used this one in a while but a recent client wanted something different so I went looking
this definitely has gotten alot better with the sexy link and the optional links above the page and it run quite smoothly

WP Genesis Box 0.0.1

The Lowdown:
Ok this tool add a nice simple affiliate box to your Genesis website posts. This plugin is based on a post from Brian Gardner, on how to create this box. It is a simple yet effective way to display that you build your sites in WordPress and then to promote your affiliate link for the themes from StudioPress. This is an excellent way of implementing it simple I had done it once but later changed themes and did not take the time to recreate this great little box then all you have to do is add either shortcode per post or add an action to your functions file. Just a bit of minor work but worth it in the end

MailChimp Importer 1.0

The Lowdown:
This looks to be a great little plugin if you are a Mailchimp user. It will go out and get your newsletter you do up in Mailchimp and then import them back into your WordPress website. A bit of a reverse from the way i usually do things but still looks like a great solution if you use Mailchimp which many of my clients do.

Telephone Number Linker

https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/telephone-number-linker/

Makes sure telephone numbers are clickable on mobile devices.

Requires: 3.0 or higher
Compatible up to: 3.4.2
Last Updated: 2013-2-17
Downloads: 19

This plugin allows you to turn a phone number on your site into a link that only appears clickable for mobile phone users. This means mobile device users can click the number to call it, but desktop users won’t see it as a link – so won’t be taken to an error screen that they would normally when clicking on a phone number link. Some iOS and Android devices make numbers clickable by default – but not all do. If your client calls saying her ancient phone won’t call a number on his site when he clicks on it this is the plugin for you

WP Image Carousel

WP Image Carousel (WPIC) lets you create image carousels by using a shortcode.
WPIC includes an options panel which lets you add default settings to your shortcode for easier and even quicker use.

Features:

  • 10 different button colors
  • Highly customizable
  • Shortcode
  • Lightweight
  • Can be integrated with any site
  • Hackable
  • Active support through the wordpress forums

This plugin utilizes the jquery plugin jcarousel lite to create the image carousels. This plugin also makes a call to the google scripts api to get jquery instead of load it from your site. This makes the plugin load faster on your pages and consume less bandwidth.

    Hi John and Marcus,

I listen to the every episode of the podcast and I needed to find one of the plugins you reviewed recently because someone asked a question in a forum. It turns out it actually wasn’t a plugin after all but it was the CMS2CMS tool that you mentioned in this episode.

    Thanks for sharing this one.

Btw – your search box didn’t work. I tried to search for Joomla and Drupal but I kept getting null results.
