WordPress release cycle continues without documentation leads: contributors voice concerns over documentation’s role and value
(https://wp-content.co/wordpress-release-cycle-without-documentation-leads) – The WordPress 6.9 cycle is underway but is also following the same path as the WordPress 6.8 release, which means that it is moving forward without any documentation team leads. There is a lot of talk within the community on both how this is streamlining the process, but also how it is essential to have documentation so that new contributors working on the docs will be able to both understand and properly contribute themselves. The Repository did an article on it here as well.

WordPress hosting team launches annual survey, promises to publish results
(https://www.therepository.email/wordpress-hosting-team-launches-annual-survey-promises-to-publish-results) – After inviting providers of all sizes to share how they run and support WordPress, the WordPress Hosting Team as now launched a 2025 Hosting Survey. The results will be published in full and used to inform updates to the WordPress.org hosting page – a page every host wants to be on but few understand who, or why, some make the cut. You can read the rest by following the link here in the show notes.

Automattic debuts Telex, bringing AI-powered ‘Vibe Coding’ to Gutenberg blocks
(https://www.therepository.email/automattic-debuts-telex-bringing-ai-powered-vibe-coding-to-gutenberg-blocks) – Telex is the latest of Automattic’s AI experiments – a chat-style tool that generates custom Gutenberg blocks and packages them as downloadable plugins. This is still in the development stage, though for those of you who are interested in being on the bleeding edge of technology and who use the Gutenberg blocks this should be exciting and interesting to play around with!

WP Accessibility Day 2025 is seeking volunteers
(https://wp-content.co/wp-accessibility-day-2025-seeking-volunteers) – The date is for October 15 and 16, and there are a variety of posts they are looking for volunteers for right now. If you are interested you can follow the link here in the show notes.

WP Founders News Letter for August 27th
(https://wpfounders.com/newsletter/27-08-2025) – Here you will find a list of various things that are going on in the WordPress World at the moment, including the update that is coming our way. This will be my first experience with a singular update for the entire year, I personally am feeling a little uneasy about the idea… but we shall see what happens. There is also some information on WooCommerce.com, BigScoots, a Press Conference, and some other things that are going on. Great place to get a general overview of what the big companies in the world of WordPress are up to these days.

AI Assistants vs. Privacy: Are we trading too much for convenience? (https://www.sknexus.org/p/ai-assistants-vs-privacy) – This is a fantastic article explaining where all that information goes that you are freely giving to whichever AI you are using. We all use AI these days, I know that I use Grok quite a bit to help me put my ramblings in order so that someone OTHER then me and an AI can read the things I wrote down and have it make sense. John uses AI to help him come up with awesome names, and we all use the AI now in order to find information, whenever we do a search online whether we realize it or not. And having done a deeper dive into the AI on our phones myself recently, it is really quite surprising just how well these things are designed to manipulate and encourage us to use them ALL. THE. TIME.
Being aware of where your information is going is a very good thing to be aware of, and this article goes into this fantastic need to know information in regular human speech.

(Go visit WP Shout Comics  OR Word Chronicles OR  MonkeyUser.com for a fantastic brain break – my favourite today is this one!)

John’s Plugin

Public Post Preview

https://wordpress.org/plugins/public-post-preview/

The Lowdown:

Share a link to anonymous users to preview a draft of a post (or any other public post type) before it is published.
Have you ever been writing a post with the help of someone who does not have access to your site and needed to give them the ability to preview it before publishing? This plugin takes care of that by generating an URL with an expiring nonce that can be given out for public preview.

WordPress Tips

We would love to hear some tid bit tips from some of our producers out there – what did you figure out by breaking something? Or what did you need to learn in order to help someone? You can send these tid bits into me at amber@wppro.ca

My tip to you today…

You know those fantastic, chill out on the couch days where you actually don’t have to do anything at all?

Yea, me neither since I was a teenager.

Although we do all have days where we have a lot less to do and feel like we can be a BIT lazy at least – and those are the days when your super artistic juices get flowing, and you want to write or build or do something right?

My recommendation is for you to take at least one of those fantastic days and use them for creation within your chosen field. Take some courses, write some ideas, write some articles, get ahead in some of your work! Say you get to have 1 of those days a month – take one day every other month. You get that every week? Once every other week!

I say this because if you allow some of your free time to be taken with getting better in your field, or building on the skills you already have, you will find that you enjoy your work more. Enjoying your work is an important part of doing your work – if you don’t enjoy it anymore you will be a little hard pressed to keep the work going.

If you can keep the enjoyment of your work flowing, you are less likely to burn out as badly/often, and that will save you from having to recover.

Amber’s Plugin

SEO for WordPress

https://therepo.org/plugin_repo/seo-for-wordpress

The Lowdown:

I saw this and decided to see if it was worth adding to the toolbox for my SEO work – and from what I can tell it will make life a little easier!

To start with I went to therepo.org/ to grab this up – there were only 36 new plugins on the .org site this month! So definitely worth looking around to see where the newer plugins are popping up.

Once you have downloaded from the repo site and uploaded into your WordPress site, you will find the setting for this plugin on the left hand side under ‘Settings’>‘SEO Settings’.

The page you land on will have 3 tabs: ‘General’, ‘Advanced’, ‘Import’.
Under ‘General’ you will find the website basics – website name, website tagline, title separator, and the website image. You also have the option of adding in the Social Media Appearance here – which can be VERY useful to have it all in one area like this! Click on ‘Save Changes’, and move onto:
‘Advanced’: Here you will find the options of Metadata you can remove, Sitemaps to enable, Breadcrumbs to add to the site, RSS options and Robot options. Click ‘Save Changes’, and you will move onto:
‘Import’: Here you can import a CSV file full of your SEO data you want to bring in.

I like how easy and straightforward this is to fill out, and there is an easy to find ‘Support’ button right at the top right hand corner your you, right next to the ‘Documentation’.

You will also find a section showing up in your Posts and Pages, allowing you you to set up your SEO Title, Description, Keywords, Image, whether or not to index this page, have Nofollow links on this page, and set up your Canonical URL.

This plugin is lightweight and plays well with others – even seemed to play nicely with Rank Math as in I saw no out and out crashes, although I highly recommend AGAINST running more then one SEO plugin at a time as by doing so they will probably try and write over one another and cause you to have double of many things, causing the search engines to think that you are just a spam site.

Now if you are just wanting to have a light weight plugin to help your basic SEO step up to the point where you can just simply get your name out there, this is a fantastic plugin! Everything is centralized, easy to use, shows up on your pages and posts and controls a lot on a lightweight scale for free!

Definitely worth adding to your toolbox even if it is just to try it out for a while and see if it helps – and it is totally free until further notice, so what can you lose by giving it a go?

    • Why or why not?
  • What is the best way to keep your privacy for your IP while still being able to login into various sites as an admin?

Questions asked after closing credits:

  • When researching for an answer to something in particular, and you find 3 different – drastically different – answers, how do you figure out which one is the correct answer?
  • Do you have any tricks you use to help speed up your search for answers?
