Having a review done by us or having an interview helps the traffic to the developers website, as was bought to our attention recently when we did an interview and reviewed a plugin for a developer who sent us snap shots of their traffic before and after the shows. The traffic stayed, so there are great benefits to being reviewed by WP Plugins A to Z. Submit Your Plugin Here.
This is a value for value show and I look forward to everyone providing some value back.
Before I get started, you will want to hang around to the end of the show for our Q & A segment with Amber…. and to those listening on the podcast, you may want to check out the YouTube version which has some great discussions before the show starts…

I think I was blinded today when I got up and started working – we have sunshine on the Wet Coast! If you have little amounts of sunshine like we do, make certain that you get outside and take full advantage of it when it’s there!!
Drag the kids out, drag your friends out, go have a picnic or something, enjoy and get that vitamin D! Remember to ditch the socials while you’re out, and you will find you feel waaaayyyyy better when you get home!
Go be a kid.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.
News this week:
WordPress Vulnerability Report – June 22, 2022 – There is a decent sized list today for the plugins to worry about – though be sure to check the ‘fixed plugins’ too. I noticed that Gravity PDF is on the ‘fixed’ list this week.
Some I recognize on the worrisome plugins this week: Pricing Deals for WooCommerce, Comment License, Custom Popup Builder, Rename wp-login.php, WordPress Team Manager – this is just a few, be sure to have a look at the list this week for both your site and your clients sites.
WordPress.org forces security update for critical Ninja Forms Vulnerability – Last week Ninja Form users got a forced update for a PHP object injection vulnerability – this made it possible to be remotely exploited without anyone needing authentication of any kind. Oddly enough, Ninja Forms did not post about his update on its blog or social media accounts or anything…
If you use Ninja Forms and do not allow auto updates, be sure to head into yours and your clients sites to update in short order.
WordPress.org strongly urges Theme Authors to switch to locally hosted webfonts – The reason for this is because of the recent German court case, which fined a website owner for biolating the GDPR by using Google-Hosted webfonts. The Themes Team is also considering banning remotely hosted web fonts moving forward, though this is still being discussed. Core contributors are now working on updating all the default themes from Twenty Twelbe through Twenty Seventeen to use locally hosted webfonts. This could affect your sites if you use Google WebFonts, so be aware of this.
GitHub makes copilot available to the public for $10/month, Free for Students and Open Source Project Maintainers – Copilot is GitHubs new AI pair programming assistant, and is available to verified students and maintainers of open source projects as an extension for popular code editors, including Newvim, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Code.
Elementor lays off 15% of Workforce, citing rising inflation and impending recession – This sucks. Elementor announced that it is laying off 60 employees, 15% of its workforce. They state that the layoff does not effect the company’s engineers and development staff, just mainly in the marketing department. This is a good thing, it means that the product itself should not suffer from the layoffs.
Microsoft: June Windows updates may break Wi-Fi hotspots – Been having trouble using your Wi-Fi hotspots lately? Well, due to the June 2022 patch forced onto us this last month, there is now an issue with using Wi-Fi hotspots. This is affecting our devices capability to connect to one another on the same network without being directly plugged in. This article gives you a workaround, which really just tells you to turn it off. Really what they mean is: they are working on it.
AlphaFold2 AI has learned how to do Chemistry! – This is an interesting article, it explains the history of AlphaFold AI, how it has been worked on since 2016, and it has now figured out how to do the chemistry! This should hopefully bring some new and exciting things to the world of science! Or you know, give the AI’s another tool to take over the world, either way, pretty neat.
This is the extra news stuff that someone out there might find interesting. To read more, you can head on over to the show notes or newsletter and check it out! If you find something to add for next show, send me a link at firstname.lastname@example.org

ClassicPress DOES have a future – we just don’t have the time to help ClassicPress get themselves out there right now.
As the ClassicPress World expands the number of ClassicPress specific plugins in their own repository we see them growing. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress currently, and all the plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well.
If anyone out there is using ClassicPress and would like to send in some reviews or news, we will gladly add it into this section! You can do so anonymously or let the world know your name – we will respect your choice!
Sadly, the number of plugins in the repository has dropped from 81 to 75. However, there is still a fair amount of recent conversations occurring in the forum, check them out to see what is being discussed using the link below.
Check out the new ‘chats’ in the forum
WordPress does have a section devoted to plugins that are compatible with ClassicPress, check it out!

Are you looking for some great newly released plugins? Check out this link:
WP Recipe Maker and Pro Version
If you’re looking to put recipes on your site, this is the best recipe plugin I have used in a long time. It is easy to use, offers lots of options, and is always improving. I would highly recommend the pro version to expand out its capabilities, like including links in your ingredients and more.

Heading with Description Elementor Widget
This is a newer plugin, and I think it could be very use for some out there!
Designed for Elementor, this plugin is a widget that you can use in place of the regular ‘Heading’ widget. This gives you the option to have a description right beneath the header, rather than having that auto space between widgets.
Very useful for design reasons, easy to use, and same setting options as all the other Elementor widgets – which that last is really awesome and doesn’t always happen that way. Sometimes you will have this amazing widget made for Elementor, though you won’t get quite all the same settings options within that widget.
Also, totally free!

Daily Bible Verse
If you have a need or want to have random daily bible verses on your site, this is a pretty nice plugin that does the trick.

WP Hide Notifications Updates and Warnings
So over the last few weeks, I have discovered that the Dobby plugin I love so much, it kinda messes with the dashboard of Slider Revolution. Which I can’t have since I use this quite a bit. Really this is the only drawback of Dobby I have found, though big enough to send me searching for another one.
This is one of the ones I tried, and I quite like it! It’s not exactly the same thing, this one only hides notifications of activated plugins, not the other notifications from WordPress itself. This means you have to use this in conjunction with another plugin in order to hide all the notifications – which is something I really like about Dobby – it does it all.
This has not been updated for a couple of years, but it still works beautifully – and I really hope that these guys do update it again and keep this plugin going because so far it seems to play really well with others, including Slider Revolution.
Though I do wish these guys hid the WP notifications as well, not just the activated plugin ones.

This could be a fun plugin to mess with your other admins, or if you just don’t like the standard menu descriptions. It allows you to change things such as ‘Tools’ to ‘This is the Junk Box’ – and more!

WPFront Notification Bar
This is a nifty plugin that allows you to add a Notification Bar for the front end of your site. You can have it on the top or bottom, and in the free version you have a decent amount of control!
You can choose how long it lasts, whether it has a button, how wide and tall the bar is, so on and so forth.
This is easy to set up, and for those newer to the scene their little question mark’s give decent explanations with greenhorns in mind, rather than a vague description expecting the reader to already know quite a bit. They even offer some warnings, stating that by using something like ‘Attach on Shutdown’ may cause issues since it’s really only there for a ‘just in case it’s not working as it should’ issue.
I like this plugin, it’s quite a bit of fun and if you enjoy setting things like this up you might lose a couple hours with this one. Just that much fun!

Q & A Time with Amber ——- Catch this info on our YouTube Channel
If you have questions you would like to have asked on the show, send them in to me at Amber@WPPro.ca and we will answer to the best of our ability!
- Why do you think company’s like Google tend to hide so many things – like Chrome’s hidden Search Sidebar?
- Why do you think companies have started the forced update thing, like what Microsoft has been doing?
- Why do you think the language of things keep changing in computers, like program’s now being called apps?
- Why do you think large companies and banks have been moving towards having everything done over a phone through an app rather than allowing their customers to keep on with doing things over the computer like Shaw and Banks?
- Do you think we will find ourselves working on phones alone in the future like some have been thinking, or do you think there will always be computers for those like me who prefer the computer to a phone any day of the week?
