Q: I am totally new to this “website thing”. How does the whole process work?
A: Never fear, that’s why we are here. You can learn about our time proven process in our process section.

Q: How long has JohnOveralll.com been building websites?
A: JohnOverall.com was founded in 1998 by John Overall. You can learn more on our about page.

Q: What kind of businesses do you work with?
A: We work with a broad range of company types across many business industries Over the years, we’ve helped businesses improve customer service, market their products, and attract customers. Functionality requests range from basic to advanced. Our team takes the time to get to know your industry, organization, and competitors to ensure your site supports all of your goals.

Cost and Payment

Q: How much does a website cost?
A: The cost of a website can vary depending on various factors, just like the cost of a house may vary. Though our website projects generally start in the $5,000 range for basic business sites and range upward depending on your unique needs.

Q: How much do you charge for web site design?

A: A fully customized, unique website starts at $449, and page development is $50 – $75 each. Pricing for other services and functionality are outlined separately on our pricing page to help you determine and control the amount of your investment. We also provide our clients with a detailed estimate before any work begins.

Q: How does the payment process work?
A: The project starts with a 60% deposit. After design sign off and before we move into programming, we collect 20%. Once we have completed and fulfilled our scope, the final 20% is collected and your website is then scheduled for launch.

Q: Are any other services included in your web design and development costs?
A: Yes. Our web design and development service includes configuration of your email accounts, detailed monthly traffic reports and basic search engine optimization services. Basic SEO includes submission of your site to the major search engines, and the setup of your primary metatag information (Page Title, Description and Keywords). Additionally, your site is built from the ground up with search engine friendly technologies and methods.

Q: Is my hosting fee refundable?
A: Unfortunately we do not offer refunds on our web hosting accounts for any reason.

Process

Q: How long does it take to create a website?
A: Our standard websites take approximately 120 days to create. Our E-commerce (online store) websites take approximately 160 days to create. This time will vary from project to project. The length of time it takes to create a fully functional website is based on several factors. Custom design work can take anywhere from 1 – 4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the number of revisions you require. The development phase requires an additional 1 – 6 weeks, depending on the number of pages, and the functionality required. Of course, these are general guidelines, and we will make every effort to meet the timeframe you have in mind.

Q: Can I see my website while it’s in progress?
A: Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. We build your website on our development server, and provide you with a username and password so that you can log in and monitor the progress of your site. During this phase, we encourage your feedback if something isn’t quite the way you envisioned it or if you’ve changed your mind. Once your site is ready and you have provided your approval, we release it live on your server and submit your URL to the major search engines.

Q: How many changes can I make to my site without additional cost?
A: We give as much latitude as we possibly can. After you’ve identified the general format and color schemes of your preferred design, we’ll complete up to 2 rounds of major revisions at no charge. All minor revisions are provided at no charge.

Q: Who will I work with during the project?
A: This is a great question to ask and you should ask it of any web design and development firm you are considering. Many firms will farm out work to freelancers or interns. Some firms give little or no access to client’s who want to speak directly with their designers or developers. Our clients work directly with our tight knit crew of 5. Who that will be depends on your project needs and what stage of the process you are in during the project.

Content

Q: What platform do you build your websites on?
A: We build all of our websites on the open-source Content Management System (CMS) platform called WordPress.

Q: Do you work with other platforms like Joomla, Drupal?
A: No. We are exclusively a WordPress CMS firm. In choosing to build with one platform over the past 10 years, we have become experts in WordPress and can create extremely custom solutions for our clients.

Q: Can you help me update my existing website that another web firm built?
A: Yes, if it is a WordPress website.

Q: Can you help me write content for my website?
A: Yes. We include copy writing and editing in all of our proposals. We also build your sitemap and help structure the foundation of your website in the planning stages.

Q: Can you help me source photos for my website?
A: Yes. We will help you source stock photos from sites such as Bigstock.com and www.istock.com. We also have photographers and videographers available to produce custom photography and videos for your website.

Q: Do I own my website?
A: YES! Everything that we build will be 100% owned by you. Most of our clients stay with us for the life of the website. Our team is just irresistible that way. But if for any reason you decide you want to take your site to another hosting service and get another company to service the site, we will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. The website is yours after all, and we want you to take it wherever you go.

Hosting

Q: Where is my website hosted?
A: All websites that JohnOverall.com creates must live on our servers. However, if at any time you wish to move to a new web firm or web host, we will package up your site at no cost to send to the new firm. Though at that time, we will no longer be able to support your site. We have our own servers through OVH.com Datacenters located in Canada.

On top of that, JohnOverall.com also has a 3rd party 24/7/365 security and monitoring team. Even when we are all sleeping, our servers are being carefully watched over.

Q: What type of web server does Eternity use?
A: JohnOverall.com houses all of our clients on dedicated CENTOS servers that we continually upgrade on a yearly basis at our datacenter in Canada with OVH and no other companies are sharing with us. Because we are constantly upgrading the server, feel free to contact us to get a list of the current server stats.

Q: How is my website backed up?
A: JohnOverall.com backs up all of our client’s websites daily, weekly and monthly on rotation to a secure backup. O If a site is needed to be fully restored, there is no cost to the client. A full site restore generally takes less than 1-hour.

Q: How much does web hosting cost with Eternity?
A: We have simplified our packages for hosting down to one option. All websites $35 a month or $350 per year. All of our hosting packages are un-metered meaning that you will never be charged extra for going over a “limit.” There are occasionally instances though if a site creates so much traffic that it may need to live on it’s own server. We can help facilitate this if needed, but is extremely rare.

Q: Will you provide a full copy/backup of our site if requested?
A: Yes and at no cost! You 100% own everything that JohnOverall.com creates for you and if requested we will provide a one-time full backup of your website. If additional backups are needed there is a minimal cost of generally $70 for additional backups.

Q: What about uptime?
A: On average we have a 99.8% uptime on our server. We take downtime seriously and required server maintenance and upgrades are always scheduled during off-peak and off-hour times by our management team at the datacenter.
