Additionally, because of my long running relationship with Godaddy, I have a new PROMO CODE for Godaddy users out there. If you use Godaddy Code MARCUS249 you can get a .com domain name from Godaddy.com for just $2.49. While this is not something that I would normally promote in the context of the show, the deal is too good not to share with the listeners.

A question from George about placing Google alerts in posts. .  https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-alerts/

It’s episode #121 and we have plugins for Search, Galleries, Tabbed Login Widgets, Support Tickets and a new way to turn WordPress into a static HTML site. All coming up on WordPress Plugins A-Z.World of WordPress News and other interesting WordPress related posts:

The revered “Mystery Buyer” of both Weblogs Tools Collection and WP-Tavern has come forth. In a recent post on Wp-Tavern, the mystery man outed himself, and it’s none other than Matt Mullenweg! Matt went on to talk about his plans for both, citing “Currently: put WLTC into archive mode, and reboot Tavern to be a “third place” for the WP community. We’ll show off the latest and greatest with bbPress and some newer WP features like post formats. Longer term it might make sense to roll Jeff’s (and anyone else who is interested) work into some official news resource WP.org, but haven’t really decided anything there yet. Consider this a grand experiment which I’m as interested to see the results of as I’m sure you guys are.”

Better Internal Link Search 1.2.1

The Lowdown:

This plugin improves the built in linker for creating new posts.. this make entering links easier to accomplish and finding the pages you want without a lot of extra crap… when you click a word or a set of words you get the most obvious pages first. Instead of everything all at once and have to drill down it does the drill down automatically based on what it sees as the words you have highlighted to link. seems to be a better and quicker way to get the internal links you want..

Easy Media Gallery 1.2.0

The Lowdown:

Looking for a new way to display a gallery of images I discovered this plugin.. This allows for several ways to display your galleries on a page and provide some great layouts for the galleries and it even seems to handle music files with an image You can put just about anything into it including websites and youtube playlists.. I have only just begun to play with it but so far so good..

Tabbed Login Widget 1.1.0

The Lowdown:

Was looking for a nice pretty way to setup a widget for logging into websites and discovered this one.. while it creates 3 tabs for your login Login, register and Forgot tab the biggest problem I had is that it is a standalone and I was trying to integrate it into Loginradius which allows for social logins.. I could not get the two to work together but if you’re looking for a nice standalone clean login widget this is the one for you.

wpsc Support Tickets is an open source WordPress support ticket system.

This isn’t some port of another ticket system that’s been hacked to run inside WordPress. This is a new plugin designed from the ground up specifically for WordPress.

Support tickets are critical to most businesses that provide a product or service, and is often used for clients, customers, members, authors, sponsors, pre-sale questions and more.

Hightlighted Features:

  • Users can create support tickets and reply to their own tickets

  • Guests can use tickets as well, using just their email address. Disabled by default.

  • Admins, and any user granted the manage_wpsc_support_tickets capability, can reply to, close, or delete any ticket

  • Front end support ticket interface is done in jQuery, and utilizes Ajax ticket loading

  • Customizable departments, email messages, and CSS for custom solutions

  • You can hide support ticket capabilities from a user who has not purchased a specific product (requires wpStoreCart 2.4.9 or higher)

  • Seamless integration with open source wpStoreCart ecommerce plugin, including a shared Guest system

  • Admin dashboard widget shows all open tickets

  • Both the admin and frontend provides a WYSIWYG HTML editor for formatting

  • Available in 14 languages

  • i18n ready and compatible (POT file included in the /languages/ directory)

  • 100% free and open source under the LGPL

This was made as part of a WP-Store add in, but it works good on its own. Had problems with setting up departments and multiple recipients is not possible.

After years of searching through thousands of WordPress plugins, trying to sort out the 5-star from the 1-star listings, those that were not tested on the most recent version of WordPress and other filters, I decided it was time to make my plugin search a bit easier. Since the WordPress plugin manager already has a way to retrieve both basic and detailed plugin information directly to my WordPress site admin panel, I figured there must be a way to do some more intelligent filtering of plugin data when doing my searches.

Turns out there is a way. And this is my first stab at it. If enough people are interested in the plugin I’ll even add more advanced features like listing and filtering based on number of downloads, reviews, and more.

For now, here is the basic feature set I find useful in filtering out my lists.

Current plugin filtering options include:

Minimum Rating

Do not show plugins with ratings below this value. 60 = 3 stars, 100 = 5 stars.

Maximum Rating

Do not show plugins with ratings above this value. 60 = 3 stars, 100 = 5 stars.

Minimum Number of Ratings

Do not show plugins with fewer than this number of ratings. Default: 2.

Minimum Tested Version

Do not show plugins that were not tested on this version of WordPress or higher. Default: 3.3.

Rating: 4 out of 5
