WordCamp Victoria 2012 — Special Episode of WordPress Plugins from A to Z #57

Let the light shineThis is a special episode of the WordPress Plugins from A to Z Podcast, this contains the audio from my presentation at WordCamp Victoria 2012.

In an effort to help folks understand the simplicity of WordPress this presentation is called WordPress 101 and discusses how and what you can use WordPress for and what to look for during all your initial setup of your WordPress install.

While WordPress has its famous 5 minute install it still take a little bit past that to get it completely up and running. So enjoy the presentation and you can view the slides from the presentation here. Unfortunately some of the questions are a bit hard to here but I did try to repeat them to make them clear for the recording.

Flying the friendly skyList of Plugins:

—–Johns Plugins——-

Comment Plugins:

While there are numerous plugins for enhancing comments I will be focusing here on plugins to manage comments.

Facebook Comments for WordPress 3.1.3

What they say:

This plugin integrates the Facebook commenting system (new, old or both) right into your website. If a reader is logged into Facebook while viewing any comment-enabled page or post, they’ll be able to leave a comment using their Facebook profile.

What we say:

This one necessitate creating a FaceBook app, so if your not real comfortable with the idea of monkeying around best to give this a pass. They do however give some decent instructions on how to create the app so if you can read and follow instructions you might give this a try.

The problem I have with this plugin is the total loss of control of my data, make no mistake comments on your website are part of your data and part of what help search engines index you. If however you like minimal work to maintain your comments this is great for you.

Rating: 2 Dragons – due to work involved in setting it up.

Disqus Comment System 2.70

What they say:

Disqus, pronounced “discuss”, is a service and tool for web comments and discussions. Disqus makes commenting easier and more interactive, while connecting websites and commenters across a thriving discussion community.

The Disqus for WordPress plugin seamlessly integrates using the Disqus API and by syncing with WordPress comments.

What we say:

First you will need to go to http://disqus.com/admin/register/ to create an account for your website if you do not already have one. A bit of a pain but seems pretty easy. Again it take total control away from you on handling your comments, it does give you some ways to moderate the comments but they are pretty much the same as in WordPress.

They would however like you to upgrade your free manager to a paid one that would include things like analytics and theme editor.. My questions is why do this when you can have all the same control directly in WordPress.

Rating: 2 Dragons due to work involved in getting it up and running.

IntenseDebate Comments 2.9.3

What they say:

IntenseDebate Comments enhance and encourage conversation on your blog or website. Custom integration with your WordPress admin panel makes moderation a piece of cake. Comment threading, reply-by-email, user accounts and reputations, comment voting, along with Twitter and friendfeed integrations enrich your readers’ experience and make more of the internet aware of your blog and comments which drives traffic to you!

What we say:

Again you need to sign up for a service.. Not a difficult process but again as far as I can tell you loose control of your data and it is maintained on their site. It does seem to work pretty nice and smooth for the most part.

Rating: 2 dragons due to work involved getting setup

Candy StripesCommentLuv 2.90.9.3

What they say:

This plugin will visit the site of the comment author while they type their comment and retrieve their last blog posts which they can choose to include at the bottom of their comment when they click submit.

It has been found to increase comments and the community spirit for the thousands of blogs that have installed it. With a simple install you will immediately start to find new and interesting blog posts from your own blog and community. You will even be able to build your list/network/community even more by offering your readers the opportunity to register to your site to unlock advanced features of the plugin like being able to choose from any of their 10 last posts when they comment or other features like dofollow links and more.

What we say:

I have actually run this one on my site for a while and found it to be pretty decent. It does not take my comments off my site, what it does do is reward commentators by adding links to their most recent posts from their websites. This one is not too bad to have although I had it turned off for a while while trying to control resource usage of my site.

Rating: 3 Dragons not too difficult to use.

Final thoughts on Commentating Systems:

In my humble opinion here it is never a good idea to relinquish control of your data to a third party. One big reason is you never know what they are going to do with it. I know the argument is that well they have said what their going to do in the Terms of Service, but keep in mind how well companies like Google, FaceBook and other have simply changed the Terms of Service to suite their needs to handle the data. Remember when you agreed to that terms of service you agreed to play the game with their bat, their ball on their field and that they can change the rules anytime they want for what ever reason to help themselves out of a jam or simply to cheat you out of something.

Ok off the soapbox now.. In the end you should simply maintain the built in comment system and enhance it, there are dozens of plugins for that which I will cover in an upcoming episode. There are ways to push your comments to FaceBook and pull back from their without loosing control.

Under the square——Marcus Plugins (Things that “slide”)———-

Sliding Drawer Content Area
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-sliding-drawer-content-area/

Description: The WordPress Sliding Drawer Plugin instantly adds a jQuery powered Sliding Drawer content area to your site.

The WordPress Sliding Drawer Content Area plugin greatly increases the screen real estate of your wordpress site. The sliding content area is jQuery powered and can be configured to slide from the top, bottom, left or right. Everything in the plugin from the position, color and handle text is customizable and easy to setup. Once you setup the plugin, you’ll have up to four newly created widget areas that can take any content that a widget area can. A couple of great suggestions for the sliding drawer content area from 61 designs is to using it as a feedback/contact form or as a sliding media gallery for flickr/picasa. The sliding drawer plugin has been tested across all major browsers.

Marcus’ Take: Very cool way to add extra content in the header area. This has a lot of possibilities that I am still exploring but I love what I see so far.

Rating: 4 out of 5

WP-Social Slider
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-social-slider
Description: WP Social Slider plugin will help you display social activities from facebook, twitter, google +1 in a slick sliding panel. Also you can show social share buttons.

Marcus’ Take: Pretty cool way to show what’s going on in your social streams without a lot of site clutter. This can be stylized in the CSS to merge with your own particular theme preferences. Good start to this plugin. Would love to see further integration with G+ and Facebook fan pages as well (Not just individual profiles).

Rating: 4 out of 5

HTML5 Slideshow Presentations
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/html5-slideshow-presentations/

Description: With this plugin, You’ll be able to create a presentation in no time using WordPress’ familiar built-in toolset, and the best part is, You won’t need to upload to slideshare when you’re done. You’re hosting your own presentations and can share/present them anytime. The presentation template is based on html5slides by Luke Mahé and Marcin Wichary. This plugin was built with CSS3 and HTML5 and is intended to be used on modern browsers.

DEMO: http://j.ustin.co/yZe7Il

Marcus’ Take: This is a pretty amazing new method of showing off a presentation using WordPress. The slideshow type style is something that will become more and more prominent in WordPress as time progresses.

2012 the end of time or a Fresh start for WordPress Plugins from A to Z Episode #55

She DevilJohn’s & Marcus Rant: What to rant about?

Welcome to 2012 the end of time or so it would seem according to the talk heating up on the web.. I have actually been monitoring the terms Mayan Calendar for a couple of years with google alerts as I have an interest in that ancient civilization. It had been real quite up until about a month ago and just this last week they started coming in like crazy (pun intended)…

I discovered what is missing in that new admin menu is quick links to items such as add new plugin, and the master list for posts and pages. And I realized that I had to throw out Akismet and Hello Dolly again.. very irritating.

And now has WordPress.org been slow the last few days guess everyone is updating..

Display Posts Shortcode 1.7

What they say:

The Display Posts Shortcode was written to allow users to easily display listings of posts without knowing PHP or editing template files.
Add the shortcode in a post or page, and use the arguments to query based on tag, category, post type, and many other possibilities (see the Arguments). I’ve also added some extra options to display something more than just the title: include_date, include_excerpt, and image_size.What we say:

I found this to be a very simple plugin that solved my need to display post excerpts on a static page using short code so I would not have to mess around creating a unique template for just one page.Rating 4 dragons

Gravity Forms Directory & Addons

What they say:
Turn Gravity Forms into a Directory plugin
Gravity Forms is already the easiest form plugin…now, the Gravity Forms Directory & Addons plugin turns Gravity Forms into a great directory.

  • Completely shortcode based, using the [directory] shortcode
  • Includes built-in searching
  • Allow logged-in users to edit their directory listings
  • Choose to show entries to only the users who created them
  • Sort by column
What we say:
I found this to be a great plugin for showing off you specialized links much better than the blogroll. It is not entirely intuitive to use though it is pretty simple once you understand it. You simply create yourself a form with whatever fields you want then you place that on one page for collecting the info. Then you place the form as a directory on another page and then adjust your columns and voila it works.
Rating 3 Dragons due to issues around setting it up and getting going.

Ultra Hide Comment Box

What they say:
This simple plugin lets you choose which category(s) you want to accept comments on. It has a simple admin interface that is very easy to use. You simple check the category that you don’t want to see comments on and the comment box will not appear on any posts in that category.

What we say:
I was in need of a simple way to stop comments on only certain categories for a site I am developing and this one fit the bill. Simple straight forward install it activate it and choose which categories to not show comments on its great..

Rating 5 Dragons for its simplicity.

Marcus’ Take:

This is a great set of parameters in which to dress up your posts, widgets and site theme. Often we need to add this enhanced functionality to business or client sites. This is an easy way to call specific data in posts and pages.Rating: 3 out of 5

Timed Widget
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/timed-widget/
Description:

A plugin for displaying different content on your site at different times of day.The Timed Widget WordPress plugin provides a widget which can display different content at different times of day. For example, suppose you have a WordPress site for your radio station, and you want to display a badge that changes as the different shows come on the air. The Timed Widget plugin provides a way to set up a schedule for your shows, and display different images at different times.

Marcus’ Take: This is a plugin that I’ve been looking for to turn a live help image on and off according to the time, whether the business is open or closed. This plugin works nicely for the job.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Google Add to Circle
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-add-to-circle/
Description:

This plugin let the users to add your Google+ Page to their circle directly from your website.Marcus’ Take: To use the Google Add to Circle just drag it to a sidebar and enter your Google+ Page url. This plugin generates a widget badge on your wordpress blog, that let the users to add your Google+ Page to their circle directly from your website. It has a badge customization, through which you may control the look of the widget/badge. This plugin will definitely help you to increase your fan base and followers on Google. I’m using this in a site that I just built and received 4 circle additions in just under a week of implementing. I’ve been waiting for a plugin like this for a while.

Remove ‘Comments are Closed’
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/remove-comments-are-closed/Description: On posts where comments are closed, the plugin will remove the text ‘Comments are closed.’ The plugin supports any languages/text domains, and will remove the text from themes and plugins.

Marcus’ Take: This is one of those simple little plugins that just plain works. We all have those pesky “comments are closed” notes on our site, which often make it look like we’re unwilling to engage the viewer. This plugin removes the note altogether, assuring a nice clean site without the clutter of unneeded notification about comments.

MGM LionSnowflakes (and more)

What they say:

Snowflakes (and more) falling down your blog! There are snowflakes, leaves, drops – and balloons that can float upwards. You can simply add more images in the pics folder and they will appear on the settings page. I also happily accept images submitted to me as long as they are properly licensed.

You can configure the number of snowflakes and limit the plugin to specific posts or pages.

What we say:

Pretty cool has a great choice of snow flakes to choose from. You also get the chance to limit it to certain pages, have multiple types of flakes and even Santa. Love this simple plugin for a short festive season. Plus you can add balloons for other events if you like. Also the snow stops after a set time so you make it less annoying to your visitors if you like.

Rating 5 Dragons.

.htaccess Redirect

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/htaccess-redirect/

This plugin modifies your .htaccess file to redirect requests to new locations. This is especially useful (and intended) to redirect requests to web locations/pages outside of your WordPress installation to pages now in WordPress.Rating 4 out of 5

Very useful plugin that works great. The normal routine of having to download the htaccess file via ftp and hand editing in notepad was a pain in the rear and if you were working remotely or on an ipad, it just wasn’t an option for htaccess editing. Looks like this plugin may have closed that gap.–TWO–

Rock itShow/Hide Content at Set Time

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shortcodes-to-show-or-hide-content/Creates shortcodes which you can wrap around text, which specify at what date or time that content should appear or disappear. Great for competitions

Bear in mind that by just entering a date, it will assume a time of midnight at the beginning of that date. So if you set your expiration date to today, it will expire at the beginning of today (12:00:00AM), not the end of the day. If you would prefer to show the content for the rest of today, then you should set your expiration date to tomorrow.

What We Say
Great concept, but would love to see a plugin that can use time of day for events. Something that I can turn off and on when live help is available, or simply display an OPEN sign for a business that gets phone calls or store traffic.

John’s & Marcus Rant: What to rant about?

Just some random chatting about Vegas and the marathon there and cheep beer while playing penny slots..

My thoughts on WordPress 3.3, ever notice when the creators of software are thinking they are making it better they actually bloat it right up. It seems WordPress is doing some of that, the  flyout menu annoyed me fast and I installed the plugin Expanded Admin Menus the only problem is that it does not persist across computers or browsers since it is java driven and does actually disable the menu. This gives the best of both worlds and is how WordPress should have done it. A new menu bar at the top in the admin area and the one on the front I liked better before was faster I thought that this new drop down. What does Automatic have someone there who has a hard-on for unnecessary flyouts and dropdown menus, including the new feature tour and WTF how come I can’t turn off the admin tool bar up top..

Paid Memberships Pro

What they say:

Paid Memberships Pro is a WordPress Plugin and support community for membership site curators. PMPro’s rich feature set allows you to add a new revenue source to your new or current blog or website and is flexible enough to fit the needs of almost all online and offline businesses.

What we say:

Pretty easy to get setup one flaw I saw was in payment gateway they offer paypal express and pro but not standard seemed strange to me since many folks starting out do not pay for the extra paypal express or pro. This is a premium plugin where all the functionality of the plugin seems to be there but you cannot access the documentation without payment. A good model but I feel it should be disclosed in the description when you download it from the repository. I felt a little deceived on that front. I do like the way it functions it does have a simple check box when creating a post/page to define if the post is member only. All in all this is a pretty goo plugin except for the issues above.

NY in VegasBlubrry PowerPress Podcasting plugin 2.0.4

What They Say:

Blubrry PowerPress brings the essential features for podcasting to WordPress. Developed by podcasters for podcasters, PowerPress offers full iTunes support, the Update iTunes Listing feature, web audio/video media players and more. PowerPress is designed as an upgrade to PodPress.

PowerPress is developed and maintained by Blubrry, a podcasting company and community providing tools and resources for podcasters to measure, monetize, publish and host podcasts. Although we’d like you to become a member of Blubrry, no membership is required to use this free open source podcasting plugin.

What We Say:

I have actually been using this plugin for over a year now and felt it was time I reviewed it again since there have been many changes to it and I was recently asked about podcasting plugins.

I still found this pretty easy to setup although it still take time to get it right. Make sure you know if you are going to do more than one type of podcast on the same site there are setting for that. also think though your setting for iTunes before setting them up changing them later can sometimes cause issue there. It also does video in case your planning that.. Make sure to get a Blubrry account so you can use their stats program.

Rating 4 Dragons ease of use but time to get setup.

podPress 8.8.10.12

What they Say:

podPress adds a lot of features designed to make WordPress the ideal platform for hosting a podcast.

podPress 8.8.10.12 includes a bug fix. You can read more about this version in the Changelog and pay attention to the Upgrade section.

Features:

  • Full featured and automatic feed generation (RSS2, iTunes and ATOM and XSPF playlist)
  • Podcast Download stats, with graphs.
  • View MP3 files ID3 tags when your Posting

…. more

What we say:

There where several other podcasting plugins but they seem to have been abandoned so I did this one again sine it was my original choice when I first started podcasting and what I taught in my classes.

I still found this one to be a bit more difficult on the setting up the one good thing i liked was control over how you player looks and where it appears. The one thing I did not like was the lack of control on a per post basis for iTunes and that there is no verification of the media when uploaded it simply pulls it from the directory you assigned in the settings. All in all not too bad just seems more work after install instead of less.

Rating 3 Dragons for extra work.

WordPress Sentinel
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-sentinel/

This plugin acts as a sentinel that watches over your core WordPress programs, as well as installed themes and plugins. It periodically checks things

WordPress Sentinel tracks all files in a WordPress installation (core, themes, plugins) and then periodically rechecks and notifies the administrator of any files that have changed in any way.
Most attacks against WordPress sites will install rogue code wherever they can – in new and existing files in the themes, plugins and even in the WordPress core files. This plugin is designed to tell the administrator exactly what files have been touched and when in order to make hack detection and recovery much easier.

Rating – 3 out of 5

WP DoNotTrack

WP DoNotTrack stops plugins and themes from adding 3rd party tracking code to your blog to protect your visitor’s privacy.

WP DoNotTrack stops plugins and themes from adding 3rd party tracking code to your blog to protect your visitor’s privacy. WP DoNotTrack uses (a slightly modified) version of jQuery AOP to catch and inspect elements that are about to be added to the DOM and renders these harmless if the black- or whitelist says so.
The current version is blacklist-based and stops tracking by media6degrees and quantserve. This can easily be changed in the javascript though. Future versions will include a WordPress admin-page to change these settings.

** This is an interesting model for a plugin, and one who’s overlying concept may one day become an issue in WordPress as a whole. At what point should we / can we be circumventing internal functionality of other plugins and/or scripts?

Theme-Check

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-check/
A simple and easy way to test your theme for all the latest WordPress standards and practices. The theme check plugin is an easy way to test your theme and make sure it’s up to spec with the latest theme review standards. With it, you can run all the same automated testing tools on your theme that WordPress.org uses for theme submissions.
The tests are run through a simple admin menu and all results are displayed at once. This is very handy for theme developers, or anybody looking to make sure that their theme supports the latest WordPress theme standards and practices.

**A great theme development tool! I used this to find issues with a hand-coded theme I was working on and it saved me hours of headaches.

Membership

What they Say:
Membership transforms your WordPress website into a fully functional membership site. Provide access to downloads, online content, videos, forums, support and more through flexible membership levels and options. Simple to use, flexible – this plugin will meet all of your membership site needs. Want to create a site like GigaOm, Izzy Video, PSD Tuts? Now you can do it, easy!

You can use Membership lite to create…

  • A WordPress membership site, offering resources, forums, downloads, videos, support and more… with two different levels of membership and complete customizations.
  • Multiple membership sites on a WordPress MultiSite install – so any user of your site can have their own membership site.

What we Say:
This one also has a premium version but in the case of that if I cannot get the free one to work properly I will not spend the money on premium. What I found is that it is pretty easy to get all set up instructions are pretty easy but I ran into one major glitch. Every time I tried to register it would lock up on the second page of registration requesting to select a subscription but unable to select it. Finally had to abandon it due to this issue.

Rating 3 Dragons due to issue around the registration page.

What they say:

Protect your content with Levels. Levels can protect Posts, Pages and Categories. Levels are not sequential, they are more like groups. Currently the Payment gateways are non-functional due to stripping out the copy-protection during the open sourcing process. These will be restored over time, including: PayPal, Authorize.net and Google Checkout.

The primary repository for Free WP-Membership is at GitHub. The project home page is at Free WP-Membership.

HotWP-Members 2.6.4

What they say:

WP-Members™ is a plugin to make your WordPress® blog a membership driven site. Perfect for newsletters, private blogs, premium content sites, and more! The plugin restricts selected WP content to be viewable by registered site members. Unlike other registration plugins and WordPress® itself, it puts the registration process inline with your content (and thus your branded theme) instead of the native WP login page. WP-Members™ works “out-of-the-box” with no modifications to your theme, but it is fully scalable for those that want to customize the look and feel, or want to restrict only some content. It is a great tool for sites offering premium content to subscribers, and is adaptable to a variety of applications.

What we say:

I like this one pretty easy to setup and also allow you to request additional info when they are registering. and it works much better than the first one I tried. just a few simple settings and you can block everything by default and ope up or open everything and block as needed. Plus they have some great documentation on their site at http://butlerblog.com/wp-members/

Rating 5 Dragonsfor easy use and actually working.

Do you habitually press CTRL+S when writing? Do you fear missing posts? There’s help!

WordPress Quick Save adds a CTRL+S keyboard shortcut to trigger the Auto-save functionality in WordPress. If you find that you habitually hit CTRL+S while writing posts, this will stop those annoying popup save site windows from appearing.

No more having to stop and click save to ensure you don’t lose your recent edits. Keep in mind, this saves ONLY as an autosave.

This enables use and display of the image scaling option that comes with the new uploader introduced in WordPress 3.3.

WordPress’s new uploader, Plupload, comes with a an option to scale down images during upload. This plugin makes that option visible on the upload screen, leaving you to choose whether you want to scale on upload or not.

Good start at adding some new functionality for the 3.3 upload feature. Plain and simple, this gives out of the box functionality to something that I assume will eventually be integrated as a stock feature in the new upload functions. But for now, this plugin does the job.

Today’s show brings in a couple of plugins that will help you make life simple on your WordPress website including but not limited to a portfolio plugin, theme management for special events.

John’s Rant: What to rant about?

What a wonderful thing life is since it always seems to provide whenever you need it to. This weeks rant was nicely supplied to me by an……Anal so-called self proclaimed web host reviewer located at hosting-reviews-exposed dot com (why no link well this person will receive enough links from me in my other post about his slanderous opinion of my service), since he has never used or even tried my service it cannot be rightfully called a review and most of his site is this way for full story listen in. As anyone who listens to my show knows I do not shy away from a bad review in fact I welcome them as they are a great way to grow. but what this guy does is slander business based solely on where they have chosen to do some promotions, and after digging into his site it all stems from a bad experience he had with the originating website. What this dink says about me http://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/firedragonhosting.html

WEBphysiology Portfolio:

What They Say:

The WEBphysiology Portfolio plugin was built to provide a clean, current look in situations where an expanded list-style or grid-style portfolio layout is appropriate. The plugin is implemented via a [shortcode] that supports the display of all, one-or-more or all less one-or-more portfolio types. More than one shortcode can be used on a given page, allowing for separating portfolio records between these instances.

The plugin utilizes a Custom Post Type as well as a Custom Taxonomy. It provides an Options page for specifying some customizable settings, like the number of entries to display per page. It also allows one to turn off the provided CSS in place of implementing their own and a lot more.

What We Say:

It uses custom post types helping to provide a cleaner look, it also places its own menu block. You can choose a grid or a list style layout, they have a pretty comprehensive instruction area on their website http://webphysiology.com/plugins/webphysiology-portfolio-plugin/ this make some of the more complex settings easier to understand and setup. I found it necessary to adjust the CSS for the plugin to fit into my site so beware of that issue. Found it a bit of a pain to adjust using a Studio Press theme.

Rating:
3 Dragons due to the issues surrounding setup almost gave it a 2

wp-propagator

What They Say:

wp-propagator will keep track of what plugins are installed and will copy and activate them to a number of other WordPress installs.

It is useful for when you have a set of separated WordPress installs which you want to keep synchronized in terms of plugins.

It does not require XML-RPC enabled or FTP support since the requests are done via HTTP POST requests.

What We Say:

Well its a great idea in theory but I was unable to make it work and there was no documentation on this plugin so it spins down the drain.

Rating:

1 Dragon for being so poorly done.

Christmas is comingWP Scheduled Themes

What They Say:

This plugin allows a wordpress administrator to schedule a different theme to display on the website for holidays or special events for all visitors.

The theme will be overridden on the live site for all people who visit the site. Great for setting a Christmas theme!

What We Say:

Very cool very simple and actually works not too much else to say here, you simply upload additional themes, choose theme choose dates to run and it auto switches on those dates.

Rating:
5 Dragons for it simplicity in everything.

Thar she blowsTop Commentators Widget:

What They Say:

The Top Commentators Widget a sidebar widget to show the top commentators in your WP site. Adapted from Show Top Commentators plugin at Personal Financial Advice, this widget is easier to manage via the control form (no need to edit the PHP file); additional options are also available to make it more flexible. Read the FAQ section on how to customize the widget. Read the Changelog as well as http://webgrrrl.net/tags/tcw for the latest news on this widget.

What We Say:

Just a great simple plugin that make promoting your best commentators on your webpage. Simple install then add the widget and a couple simple configurations and your off.

What they say:
From the creators of the popular Clickbank Marketplace analytical and search tool, CBengine, comes CBpress. The most robust and flexible ClickBank and affiliate product management Wordress plugin currently out there.

Current affiliate management plugins require you to MANUALLY enter ClickBank products one by one. CBPRESS allows you to import the ENTIRE ClickBank Marketplace into your WordPress blog in seconds and then manage which ClickBank categories and products you want. The options are MANY.

Push-Button Marketplace Updates

Update your CBpress Marketplace every couple hours or once a  week. The control is in YOUR HANDS. Simply press the import button and in seconds your WordPress ClickBank marketplace will be automatically updated.

What We Say:

I found it easy to install on product listing page have the ability to display more that 10 at a time never mind found the setting in the setting menu, but it does not randomize them on display it need the ability to randomize the listing on the site when choosing to display more that your list number. Also it need a bit clearer instructions on downloading the initial data base for the system.

iRobots.txt SEO

What They Say:
iRobots.txt SEO (IRSEO) is a fully customizable robots.txt virtual file generator. IRSEO creates a highly optimized and secure robots.txt file straight out of the box. Users may choose to enable or disable specific user agents, directories or files using intuitive options all of which include detailed instructions.

The robots.txt file is a text file located in the root directory of a website. It’s purpose is to direct user-agents (AKA bots) away from or towards specific files or directories. Inhibiting a bot from indexing specific pages will ensure your website remains keyword optimized and all indexed pages are relevant to your potential customers.

IRSEO also inhibits several WordPress system directories and files by default. Doing this ensures that the search bots do not include security sensitive pages within search results. For example, searching for “inurl:wp-content name size description” in Google will produce a list of sites with indexed and open content directories.

What We Say:
This is a pretty easy plugin to use you can do as little or as much configuration as you desire. This plugin insures that you have that all important robot.txt file on your site without the hassle of writing a text file and uploading it and double checking you have blocked all the proper directories.

Rating:4 Dragons for ease of use.

The old barnGravity Forms Subscriptions Add-On

What They Say:
This plugin requires the Gravity Forms plugin. Don’t use Gravity Forms? Buy the pluginand then use this plugin!

Gravity Forms has great PayPal support built in, but…

There’s no way to switch between subscriptions and one-time payments in the same form, or modify the subscription frequency. That’s what this add-on does: it adds two buttons to the Gravity Forms form editor that add a drop-down menu or radio button selection with subscription options.

You can use the presets or enter your own subscription frequency options. You can define options such as:

  • One-Time (non-subscription)
  • Once Daily
  • Once Weekly
  • Once a Month
  • Once Every 6 Months
  • Once Yearly
  • etc.

What we say:
This is a pretty simple plugin to use and make adding subscriptions using gravity forms easy to do.
