John’s Rant: What to rant about?
Wanted to let people know about something I have been observing the past couple weeks if you use the plugin WordPress db backup you meed to update it, I have been seeing an interesting hack in the last couple weeks that seems to affect this plugin, but it seems site that have this plguin are being attacked by an install called wp-db-backup-made. The what is happening is it is adding the plugin wp-db-backup.
I have now observed this on a few sites from differing hosts and differing plugins configurations,  it does look like this has been going on for a while after some research, and it is a piece of maleware being uploaded though a vulnerable plugin or theme. Update your stuff and plug the holes folks.
WordPress News and other interesting WordPress related posts:
WordPress 4.5 has dropped and I guess it was time for a version to break things again. I have had some pretty poor luck with this version of WordPress. So far about 3 of every 5 sites I have updated caused a major break and the biggest culprit has been the theme. It seems that allot of folks are having issues with it and mostly related to ajax and jquery.

WP Notification Center

The Lowdown:
I don’t know about you but me I am getting overwhelmed with all the admin notification taking up mass amounts of my screen space, it it time for a notification center in WordPress much like many places I go to when there are announcements to be made.
This plugin creates a notification center and while it does not seem to grab them all it does a pretty good job of grabbing most of them and clearing out space on my dashboard.

Cool Timeline

The Lowdown,
Well this is a cool plugin in what it does but it is additional work for your website, now if you only manage a single site this may be for your. I was hoping for something that used my existing content to create the timeline story but it turns out you need to add the content story by story for the timeline to be created.
While I think this a a pretty great little plugin to give some additional visual enhancement its too bad you cannot select from the content you already have.
check it out though

Premium Plugin
The Lowdown;
I had reviewed this plugin in the past but it was under another name at that time since then they have updated and changed the name on this plugin from protected content this was a while back and I have been using it on a couple sites since then.
Its a pretty easy members plugin to use it make getting setup and going pretty easy task.
It offers several payment gateways out of the box. the setup for protecting content is an easy task and one of the reasons I went to it was how easy they make it to protect content created using custom post types. It even makes it easy to protect content past the more tag or if your inclined protect your comments to members only.
It has additional integration such as for BBPress and buddy press, coupons, mail chimp integration add a trial period and more.
All in this is a pretty good members plugin so if your looking for one check this one out.

This is an easy way to add a quick pre-submission confirmation page to your forms where users can preview their entered data before it is submitted. Gravity Forms does not provide any way to do this by default; however, with this plugin and a few simple form configuration instructions, you’ll have pre-submission confirmations working like magic!
