This is a weekly round up of WordPress news I have accumulated from across the web some old some new but always interesting. The new relates to WordPress and sometimes other areas of the web. It often has a focus on security and more.

We try to have news here that is not only important to help you with your website as well as new from the #wpdrama scene and more to share.

Latest Version of WordPress Fixes 62 Bugs and 8 Flaws

https://www.socpedia.com/latest-version-of-wordpress-fixes-62-bugs-and-8-flawsThis Wednesday saw the release of WordPress’ latest version, which the team categorized as a security edition for every version before 4.7.1, the number of the latest rendition of this CMS. The release notes accompanying the launch of the updated version of the software explain that it fixes 62 issues along with 8 security vulnerabilities.

The new rendition of the CMS also deals with two XSS or cross-site scripting flaws that showed up in plugins.

The advisory states that one XSS flaw was discovered by Dominik Schilling, who is a member of WordPress’ security team, and could be an issue through the name of the plugin or the header featuring the version on update-core.php. Latest Version of WordPress Fixes 62 Bugs and 8 Flaws

Disable Specific WordPress Update Emails with the Control WP Core Emails Plugin

If you’d like to quickly disable these types of notifications, check out Control WP Core Emails, a brand new plugin developed by Andrew Norcross of Reaktiv Studios.

Once activated, browse to Settings > General and scroll to the bottom of the page. From here, you can configure which emails you want to suppress. Email types include, success, manual, failure, and critical. One thing to note is that Control WP Core Emails does not provide the ability to manipulate the emails.
